WCHS-TV/Fox 11 had a ton of technical miscues and unfortunately, the anchors/reporters had difficulty ad-libbing through these errors. The final (before provisional ballots) count were announced on WSAZ while WCHS/Fox was in a commercial break and continued to finish the final 3 minutes before getting back to the broadcast. Jake Glance interviewed the Nitro Mayor and the mayor ended with "Thank Kenny".....I think that's what I heard...it was off mic a little.
WSAZ was OK. They had a bunch of miscues and old numbers. The anchor went twice to the graphic to say they had the "final" numbers and the old numbers were shown.
Everytime I switched over to WOWK, I didn't see really any coverage.
WSAZ.com was OK with numbers...sometimes even beating their own TV station to the punch. However, I was disappointed they simulcasted MyZTV on their webcast...was hoping they would have a separate broadcast.
WCHS-AM was good. However, they made it really confusing when they announced numbers...like vote totals and how many areas have reported. There were even a few mathmatical mistakes from Jeff Jenkins...however, he did make fun of himself a little.
The funniest moment of the night came when WCHS-TV teased they would go live for the announcement from Tri-State Racetrack and the balloon drop. They went to it twice and they (Tri-State) didn't do it. Then, they cut out of the weather abruptly to go live and Tri-State had just finshed their announcement and went to pull the cord to drop the balloons. However, the balloons got stuck. Someone had to rip them down and their was a HUGE peice of plastic hanging from the ceiling blocking the podium. Classic stuff.
Anyone else have any thoughts?
