Anyone catch the end of ESPN's coverage of NASCAR today? They asked race winner Tony Stewart how winning today's race at the Brickyard compared to winning there in the past. He said (paraphrasing here) that he would like to dedicate today's win to the fans of Indy (he's from about 45 minutes down the road) for having to put up with all the BULLSHIT that comes with being a fan of his. It was not bleeped. That will surely cost him some coin and some points. Will the fact that this was on ESPN and not Fox or some other network keep the PC folks at bay?

I wasn't debating whether or not it was a sport, I was just posing the question do you think there will be ramifications from this?

Speaking of what people said on the air, I was watching the WSAZ news this weekend and the newscaster was Amanda Barren. She was doing a chat with Amy Katcher at the end of a segment and, I swear she said something about the reporters at the Hillary Clinton appearance like "We were trying to decide who was dressed the sluttiest". Anybody else hear this?

Still can't top some of Rusty's old interviews. I once heard an interview where we was complaining about a rule change and he must have uttered 20 or 30 shits and damns before the interview was over. He has gotten much better, though.

For whom?

It was cable, not OTA broadcast, so the vulgarity isn't an issue as far as any gubmint regulatory body is concerned.* NASCAR, being a private entity/employer, can do whatever it wishes, though.

* ...unless ABC used that same audio for its radio offering.

By the way, I didn't find this race until 2.5 hours after the events began. Nextel Cup races are now spread over five networks...NASCAR is getting way too complicated.

Four networks. Fox for the first quarter, TNT for the next, ESPN the next, then ABC for the last quarter. Much better when it was a different network every week, as it was in the 90's. (TBS, TNN, CBS, ABC, ESPN trading about)

Where's NBC? Wasn't that the NBC team on TNT doing it there until NBC stopped screwing around with other sports on Sundays?

ABC/ESPN is doing it? I thought ABC/ESPN had the Brickyard thing 'cause it has some specific deal with that track. The NBC...er, TNT...team is all done with it now?

I just checked the TV schedule....yep, it's ESPN again this Sunday, and it's not in Indy.

Geez..... See? This is way too complicated!

Stewart seems to be keeping the same thought process going. On the ABC radio network this morning he said basically the same thing, except this time he said "crap" instead of "bullshit".

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Tony Stewart was fined $25,000 and docked 25 points by NASCAR on Tuesday for cursing during his television interview after his win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Stewart, who had just scored his second victory in three years at his hometown race track, was soaking up the adoration from the throng of orange-clad fans when he dedicated the win to them.
``This one's for every one of those fans in the stands who pull for me every week and take all the (expletive) from everybody else,'' he said.
