Chris Benoit dead

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

I don't think most of the rednecks saw him as a hero. Steve Austin on the other hand...

BTW when I said he was "one of the good ones" that's just what I have read about him. No one knows what someone is like behind closed doors till they lived with them. For example the general public thinks I'm a nice guy, but....no on second thought, the general public doesn't like me either.

From 411mania.com:
-The lead investigator began the press conference. He says that yesterday they came to the home after receiving a call for a welfare check on his home. He missed some out of state work and they became concerned and asked for the check. Police found the bodies of Chris Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. They were all deceased. Autopsy's were performed and it has been ruled a double homicide/suicide.

-They feel Friday he murdered his wife via asphyxiation and later the weekend the same for Daniel. Sunday morning is when they feel he hung himself in the basement area. They are waiting on toxicology reports, which could take up to 2 weeks.

-There were no notes left that they have found. The son was in his bed. Chris Benoit has been arrested for DUI in the county, but not for domestic abuse. They have not confirmed the allegations of abuse or the reported divorce attempt.

-They found legal prescriptions in the residence. There were steroids.

-There is no motive as of now with the evidence that they have.

-They say he sent text messages, but they will not comment on the contents of such.

-They will not speculate if steroids had anything to do with the death or his state of mind.

-It appears he hung himself within 24 hours of killing his son.

-They reiterate the time of 2-weeks on toxicology results.

The DA joins the conference. He has no statement prepared, but he takes questions.

-The bizarre circumstances are that in a community like this, this is what is odd. A 7-year old is dead, and we may never understand why. The timing is what he feels is bizarre. But they have not verified all of the times.

-There was a bible beside each of the victims (Nancy and Daniel).

-Nancy was bound by her hands and feet, as well as some blood under her head. She was wrapped in a towel.

-No signs of struggle with the son.

-He says that in 2003 there was an order of protection brought against Benoit, but he has not seen all of the paper work.

-He is baffled as to why someone would kill a 7-year old.

-The families have been contacted.

-He has had no communication with the WWE.

-They reiterate that Nancy died Friday, Daniel early Saturday and Chris sometime late Saturday/early Sunday.

-Benoit hung himself with the cord from his weight machines.

-They need to get all of the toxicology results in to see if things match up. 2-weeks, maybe longer.

-If anything else comes up, they will come out and re-brief the media

Get ready, this is going to be played in the press for months. Sports talk will also get involved because of the steroid issue. I would suggest that when the biopic is made Nunley play the part of Benoit. He's practical body double.

They'd be stretching as the prescription was legal.

Also, roid rage doesn't take 2-3 days to play itself out.

Now....they are reporting that they found needle marks on the arms of his son, Daniel. Officials think they has been giving the 7-year old boy HGH because he was small for his age.

I hope this isn't true.

From 411Mania.com
- The RAW that was canceled last night in Corpus Christi, TX has been rescheduled for 7/16. To make room for this, WWE has canceled their scheduled tour of Canada from 7/14 to 7/17.

- WWE's UK DVD distributor, Silvervision, has removed the Chris Benoit: Hard Knocks DVD from their website.

- ToysRUs.com has pulled all Chris Benoit action figures from their website.

- WWE.com has pulled the "I Did It" Mr. McMahon shirt from their website.

- TNAwrestling.com has pulled the note of condolence about Chris Benoit that they had put up on Monday.

- ABC News has an article up on the impact the Benoit tragedy has had on young fans

-TVWeek.com reports that Vince McMahon will appear on ECW On Sci-Fi tonight to apologize for the three hour RAW Benoit tribute that WWE ran last night. WWE ran the show before information broke that Benoit himself had killed his wife and son, then himself.

-In an interview with ESPN.com, Fayetteville, Georgia District Attorney Scott Ballard revealed new information on two text messages that Chris Benoit sent to Chavo Guerrero over the weekend. In the first message, Benoit told Guerrero that Nancy and Daniel Benoit were both sick. It is believed that Benoit sent this message after he had already killed both Nancy and Daniel. In the second message, Benoit told Guerrero that the gates to his house were open and that dogs were outside. It is believed that he sent the second message as a way of making sure the bodies were all found after his suicide.

Even more shocking is that Benoit's son, Daniel, was apparently found with needle marks in his arm. According to Ballard, the boy was being given Human Growth Hormones because the family thought he was undersized.

The article also states that Benoit used weights and the pulley of a piece of exercise equipment to hang himself.

This is getting weird.
The Fox News Channel is reporting that an investigation has been launched regarding an entry made on Wikipedia that apparently noted the death of Nancy Benoit fourteen hours before the Benoit family was discovered deceased in their Fayetteville, GA home. Investigators want to know who made that entry, and there is speculation that it could have been Chris Benoit himself. Benoit sent strange text messages to friends and John Laurinaitis prior to the wrestler taking his own life.

Indeed...

From Wiki:
On June 28, FOXNews.com reported that news of Nancy Gaus' death was posted on the English Wikipedia 14 hours, 29 minutes before the police reportedly discovered the bodies. The information was posted to the site on Monday at 12:01 a.m. EDT, whereas Fayette County police found the bodies Monday at 2:30 p.m. EDT. The IP address was traced to Stamford, Connecticut, the location of WWE headquarters.

Check this out...from 411mania.com:
Vince McMahon appeared on The Today Show this morning and interviewed by host Meredith Vierra. Highlights are below.

- The segment started with a recap of the Chris Benoit story and the link between Benoit and steroids. They also showed Lex Luger commenting on how steroids and alcohol are a bad mix. The Eddie Guerrero and Curt Hennig deaths were also brought up.

- Vince McMahon went over the timeline of last weekend and his role in how WWE handled it.

- The steroid issue came up and Vince was asked why he was so defensive and quick to say that the Benoit situation was not a result of steroids even though steroids were found in his home. McMahon said that Benoit's actions were over three days and that isn't steroid rage and that nobody knows anything until the toxicology reports come back. Vierra again pushed the steroid issue and how steroids can cause depression and paranoia and McMahon brought up how lots of other medications were also found in Benoit's house and they may have played a role as well.

- Vince brought up how WWE puts smiles on people's faces and the wrestlers are entertainers and all the steroid talk is an attempt to smear WWE. He compared it to a postal worker who commits a crime, saying that it wouldn't be the Post Office's fault and that people would still use the Post Office for their mail.

- Vince said that Benoit does not represent what WWE is all about and added that he doesn't know why Benoit turned into a "monster."

- Vince said that the pressure from Benoit's son's illness may have contributed to the incident.

- The steroid issue came up again and Vince said that wrestlers have always been suspected of using steroids but that WWE has now implemented a Wellness Policy. He explained all the tests they now do and added that Benoit was tested in April and came back negative. He also said, however, that the negative test doesn't mean for sure that Benoit was not using or abusing steroids or other drugs.

- The topic of wrestler deaths came up. Vierra asked Vince what he thinks about so many wrestlers passing away so young. Vince more or less ignored the question, saying that only five wrestlers who have been under contract to WWE have died. Vince seemed to be getting a bit annoyed at this point.

- Vierra also seemed to be growing frustrated with Vince dodging questions. She called him "disingenuous" for not believing that there is steroid use in wrestling. Vince said he never said that and that he can only comment on the five deaths that happened in WWE, saying that Benoit's death was from suicide, Owen Hart's was from an accident, and that the other three were from heart failure.

- Vierra asked what Vince would do if the toxicology reports show that Benoit had steroids in his system. Vince again brought up the Wellness Policy, saying it is very effective, and again said that people are rushing to judgment here.

- Vince said he is not trying to hide the fact that Benoit was part of his company. He again called Benoit a monster and said there were never any signs from him that he was capable of this type of behavior. He said WWE performers are well adjusted, family people who go to work like everybody else and that his company is just trying to move on from this.

As "weird" as this is and may or will get, there are many media folks and outlets who are already looking really stupid and should already be issuing umpteen corrections and apologies.

And, to all of those who know something about pro wrestling and its performers, you should realize that the mainstream news media make these kinds of mistakes in fact, errors in focus, and stupid assumptions in every single thing they "cover."
"I don't know the same things you don't know."

"Yes, you do; you just won't admit it!"

as long as you're only talking about justified/self admitted news organizations and persons claiming to represent the same. i'm all for the news media "gettin' it right" and admitting fault when appropriate.

BUT, speaking for myself and for those of us lucky enough to be in a position that encourages sharing our "personal for entertainment purposes only opinions", it's a very sad story. my heart and deepest sympathies go out to the families of the victims. also, anyone else that's felt pain or loss due to this unfortunate incident.

Cable says Benoit and his wife argued over the care of the "retarded" kid.
She wanted Benoit home more to help with the kid.

The friend they refer to, John Laurentis, is the wrestler known as Johnny Ace, who was never that big but is huge in Japan, where Benoit first became a star. He is the younger brother of Joe Laurentis who is better known as Animal from the Road Warriors (Legion of Doom) tag team. Hawk, the other half of that tag team, also died relatively young from "heart issues."

And yet another Benoit/Wiki update..
Fox News is reporting that an anonymous user out of Stamford, CT edited Chris Benoit's entry on Wikipedia to feature the comments, "However, Chris Benoit was replaced by Johnny Nitro for the ECW Championship match at Vengeance, as Benoit was not there due to personal issues, stemming from the death of his wife Nancy." The comments led to Wikipedia volunteers contacting Fayetteville, Georgia authorities.

However, the I.P. address in question also made a series of other edits to different entries, including former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler, WWE star Chavo Guerrero, NBA player Ron Artest and the HBO series The Sopranos. Many of the edits were misspelled or explicit in nature, leading one to believe that the postings were made by a hoaxer. You can read this person's past edits here.

Even though the IP address is being traced back to Stamford, CT, it's also entirely conceivable that the user was concealing his true IP address. One person who knows a lot about internet technology said, "They have software out there that you install on your computer that will change your IP address and location or origin that people will see on the Internet. IP spoofing is a little more technical so with this user, based on the grammar, looks to be someone young using a software program of that nature."

More than likely, this person made a wild guess regarding the Benoit situation at the time, and this person turned out to be right.
And yes Arp, I know what you mean. I was this {} close to calling Nancy Grace last night and screaming at her. God she is a stupid bitch. I wonder how she got her law degree? Thank God Jericho was on with her.
