Loud music leads cops to Amish beer bash

A weekend party in Noble County led to the arrest of 21 young Amish people. Sheriff Landon Smith says his office received several complaints of a loud party in a rural location near Summerfield. Deputies responded and found a party underway in the woods. Five coolers with beer and ice, a generator, two stereos and lights were confiscated in the resulting raid.

Four adults were charged with contibuting to the delinquency of minors. Eleven others were charged with under-21 alcohol consumption. All appeared in court in Caldwell this week. Each was fined, given a suspended jail sentence, and ordered to perform community service.

There is a big problem with Amish & alcholism & drug abuse.Its a growing problem in Amish communities. The kids go through a period known as Rumspringa about the time they turn 16 and they basically sow their wild oats until they decide to join the order. There was a great article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer about it...very interesting. Here's the link...
