WIFI for the east end (you know;Where all the state offices are.) and it's free! Well.......free for three years. Then what? Why no details and why isn't the rest of Charleston rasin' HELL?

It took a little over three years from concept to almost totally in place for Wireless Philadelphia to get from small pilot to large pilot to city wide coverage and Philly had the power of Earthlink to install the system and all the transceivers.

In WV terms, that would be....

hmmmm........

5 years, 7 years, or 10 years????????

Plus this does not take in consideration of lawsuits from broadband carriers in the state trying to keep the government out of the near broadband business. In the case of PA, except for Philly, Verizon has succeeded in having laws passed to keep the Commonwealth of PA and county as well as local governments out of the WiFi and WiMax business.

Far be it from me to knock something back that's free, but where is the financial benefit in a company offering free wi-fi?

It's not "free", I guarantee it'll either come out of our state tax money or danny will jack up his "you gotta work" fee to pay for it...

Half the businesses in Logan have no phone service. That little lady, Sara the operator (the one you have to talk to get a phone call in here) had a heart attack earlier

I'm lucky to get 400k even though I'm supposedly paying for 3mb DSL...

Maybe the wi-fi hubs will be just as slow.

The question we're debating on our message board is... Should the government (the taxpayers) be in the business of offering porn to the masses. ( masses, including children ).

Say a kid (12 year old girl for example) sneaks out to where-ever with her laptop and makes contact with a child molester and is abducted. Who's at fault? Or say a 11 year old boy or girl manages to download child porn (big jail time)... or ANY really filthy porn. Who's responsible?

When internet access is provided by parents, school or library.. there's "some" sort of supervision. But when it's provided by the government unsupervised in the case of WI FI, that's another case all together isnt it?
