R.I.P. Bob Evans

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

R.I.P. Bob Evans

Post by genlock »

Bob Evans, founder of the Bob Evans restaurant chain, has died, according to Bob Evans Farms Inc.

Raised in Gallia County, Ohio, Evans opened a small truck stop in Gallipolis in 1946 and began making his own sausage. Evans and other family members incorporated as Bob Evans Farms in 1953.

Evans retired as president in 1986, but the company he started now operates 579 family restaurants in 18 states and is a leading producer and distributor of pork sausage.

Perhaps he has already "risen" and is not "shining."

When I was working in Gallipolis I got the pleasure of doing remotes from their big festival on the farm. Nice people to deal with. Never got to meet Bob, though. And now.....I never will.

The Pumpkin Festival in Milton puts the Bob Evan's Farm Festival to shame.
