Any predictions?

I find it very hard to believe that Tony will be whacked. They have to keep him alive for a movie or a return series.

how about they end the series with an ol school gangland mafia shoot-out. 5-6 guys on each side, gun flashes and smoke, and nobody knows who dies... there's a cliff hanger for ya ...

I think there will be one major character killed early. I don't know why, just a feeling. Since they've lost Christoper, Bobby and since Silvio is barely hanging on I think it will be someone very close to Tony (Carmella, one of the kids). Some think one of the kids will go which will in turn make Tony give up the mafia and cooperate with the feds, going into exile somewhere only to make a comeback in a future movie or another series. All of the press I have read with James Gandolfini has said he will be happy to give up the character, but that could be a swerve. I don't think by any stretch of the imagination this is the end of the Sopranos forever.

Sorry guys, but I am a total geek about this show. This is the only show I watch regularly, other than sports or The Daily Show.

Athough I've come up with several scenarios that bring some sort of conclusion but leave options open, I have found it impossible to make any actual prediction because....

...we don't know the time frame of this final episode -- does it pick up exactly where we finished last week, and does it contain any jumps in time?

...we don't know Sil's outcome -- alive or dead, vegetable or mineral?

...we don't know what the episode's title -- "Made In America" -- suggests (Furio returns!?!)

...we don't know what the movie plot will focus on (and I say "will" because Aida Turturro, in a TV interview about a month ago, wondered if she would be in the movie, not whether there would be one)..."revenge" would be the obvious choice.

One observation/concern: virtually all the "likable" wise-guy characters are dead...without them, constructing a good story gets harder.

What about the theory that this is all a dream and that the "real" Tony Soprano is Kevin Finnerty, the name of the Arizona salesman portrayed by James Gandolfini in that one dream episode where he was at a business conference?

Isn't someone who is "made" either in or protected by the mafia? A made man... could that have something to do with it? So if soneone else is 'made' in America, could someone (Tony?) leave the country and be 'un-made, not in America'?

Of course, I'm the wrong person to ask. Last time I watched the show was the first season.

Here's mine -- the microwave popcorn I'm about to pop....I run it for 3:33, and I'm going to start it right at about 9:00.

Talk about a series going out with a wimper rather than a bang! Taking film appreciation classes in college totally fucked up the way I watch TV and movies now. Anyway, overall I was disappointed, but it did leave a lot to work with should their be a another series or a movie.

I wonder how many people went into a state of panic when the audio and picture went off before they cut to the credits? My wife and I both looked at each other (which has happened in years) then my phone rang. It was one of my friends asking, "Did your TV just go out?"

Pissed at first, then thought, had to keep the door open for a movie. And I thought it summed everything up...keep the family first (everybody meeting in the restaurant), never let the enemy get away (Phil...eeww, "crush your head"), but always live wondering if the next guy walking in is the one who's coming after you (all the creepy looking guys in the restaurant).
So upon reflection, I liked it.

I agree they took a coward's way out, but there is nothing they could have done that would have satisfied anyone. The show had become hit and miss in the last three seasons anyway, so this ending was less catastrophic for me as I was much less invested in it than I would have been if it were still a "home run" show.

By the way, when I say "coward's way out" I'm talking strictly about the act of storytelling. I think ending the series in this fashion was quite brave in every other aspect.

I didn't watch the premiere of "John From Cincinnati" yet. Is it worth it? If Milch let Deadwood die a year early for a piece of shit I'll be truly pissed.

Due to a slight popcorn-popping issue and having done my own instant replays of several scenes (the babies' bumpy ride, for one), I had fallen behind by right about five minutes, which placed that cut-off at exactly 10:05 and had me thinking the DVR had just quit its recording. I started playing the show, jumped to 10:00, and it happened again! Backed up a little again, played again, finally got it.....

In a way, it was brilliant -- built a bunch of tension using somewhat trite techniques ("worked" the "smarts," so to speak) but didn't necessarily go anywhere. And, right now, you're free to speculate about or even believe whatever you wish about what happened "next," guaranteeing buzz and discussion for some time.

My wife and I both looked at each other (which has happened in years)....

I assume that's "hasn't," and that's just sad.....
