SUPER 107.3...which I liked because of the involvement of Gnarls Barkely personallydaveinthemorning wrote:On my drive in to the studio this morning they were doing mostly Top 40 stuff.
Maybe they are bringing sexy back!

I wonder if they're going to emulate the energy format that CC is doing in Raleigh with 93.9 KISS-FM"
http://www.939kissfm.com/main.html
Last 10:
Right Back Where We Started From - Maxine Nightingale
Over and Over - Nelly / Tim Mcgraw
Everybody Everybody - Black Box
Ladies Night - Kool & The Gang
Humpty Dance - Digital Underground
Show Me Love - Robin S
Shame - Evelyn "Champaign" King
Ignition - R. Kelly
This Is Your Night - Right Back Where We Started From - Maxine Nightingale
Red Red Wine - UB40
It may be because of the weekend, but they don't always trend this urban. Up-tempo dance/happy music. Excellent format, and excellent execution. They've even dropped some of the voiceover work for no-shit, sounds-great jingles! If they'd drop all the v/o stuff, I'd be one happy camper.

Aw you know it's going to be oldies. Oddly enough, I suggested that a few months back to our former GM; that maybe they need to blow the audience up and build it back bigger. Nothing like a clean slate.
It would be interesting if they flipped to classic rock, though. Taking on Nunley at programming the format would be like being a one-legged man in an arse-kicking contest.

I'd like to see something like this: http://947theglobe.com/
Or even better, this: http://www.wvod.com/
But that's a dream world...
FM Talk, Sports, etc. They could all work. WV Radio really should be thinking about life after 580, since their listeners are a lot older than KAZ's ever were.
A return to oldies would be great, but it's a shame if it's satellite. Max Wulf did such a good job before the old KAZ died. The feed on 680 is far inferior to the former local product
Movin' (rhythmic AC) could be a nice bridge between THE BEAT and V100. WV Radio could own females in the capitol city. And 102 would be very, very hard pressed to find it's niche.
Lastly, what about smooth jazz? I know there is talk about a V100 HD with that format. Maybe they want to give it to a big 50KW stick?
And I won't beat the BEAT to 107.3 dead horse anymore (as I have many times in the past). But it would work!!!!
All in all, the stunting is interesting. For once, I'll look forward to Monday morning. This time to see where the format wheel stops...

Alright....well, then, what's it going to be Monday morning? There's time for some speculation. I mean, I would guess I would personally find the "Super," "Mountaineer," "Relax," and "Santa" hours interesting and/or enjoyable, but I'm pretty confident it won't be one of those.
What will it be? What fits? Will it even be something on the list? Satellite or local? Who will the players and cast members be?

Given previous history, it is rare they ever do what "makes sense". Eventually they throw something at the wall and it sticks.
That said, it would make no sense at all for them to go Classic Rock. However, that's where my money is at. Probably try and snag Lex and Terry, just to be a thorn in Nunley's ass.
They'll throw money at it... after 2 years it will be an "also ran", and we'll be having this discussion again.

a decent FM talker would be good in Charleston - I can't help thinking there would be a market for Leykis-like shows. I know I'd be listening! I used to listen to him on the other starguide channel when we ran Laura Ingram. Good stuff.
