Funny... This thread started innocently enough. Now, it is three (make that four) pages long and we still don't have an answer.

My $2 is on the Civic. I'll bet he had to order one like I did. It took 4 weeks before I mine showed on the dealer's lot. Hot commodity but well worth the wait.

I think the debate now should be whether he got the LX or splurged and gout an EX.

It is quite sad. When I was shopping for Civics, the only dealer in the area who had an automatic for me to test was that ass hat Honda dealer in S. Charleston with the initials LR. I used them like a tool (testing their car with no intentions of buying it there). Anyhoo, the one automatic in the whole damn state and it was an EX fully loaded with the SAT NAV, XM, etc. About $22,000. Believe me, if I had the extra $4500, I would have bought it, even from LR.

I recently drove by a Honda dealer and noted there was not a single Civic on the lot.....and they're made in this state!

Question: So, uh, why do they keep advertising the Civic specifically?

$22,000 for a Civic. Looks like Hoda is playing the dry up supply so they can get a premium price game.

I was thinking the same thing, although I'm not quite all the way into the "sinister" camp.

A tipping point has been reached, and America's discovered the difference in experience of being a Toyota or Honda owner. Having seen it coming and planning and building plants here accordingly, Toyota's on an absolute roll. Honda, though, is a few years behind on capacity. That being the case, I can't help but wonder if Honda might want to maintain a comparable performance by continuing to fuel demand despite an already tight supply and getting a much higher average selling price.

Nope. Lexus was not picked by Clinton for the future of the Motorcade. He went to Ford and a Mercury Mariner Hybrid.

Looks like a lot of nickel and diming going on...

The loaded Civics are nice. But it seems that you could get more car for that kind of money from other places.

A Corolla S doesn't go over $20k, to my knowledge...

Wise choice, but either way, you can't go wrong with either Honda or Toyota. Although I will be doing a remote this afternoon screaming about how great Fords are I will never again buy a domestic vehicle again. I will put my Toyota truck (made mostly in California) and my wife's Toyota car (made mostly in Kentucky) against anything Detroit has to offer when it comes to resale value and reliability.
