Jay Nunley Does It Again...

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

Jay Nunley Does It Again...

Post by Kiddconley »

Big Poppa has produced, what I think is one of the best pieces I've heard in a while, on the Buffalo Creek Flood Disaster. It comes on the 39th anniversary of the tragedy and will air at 8 am and noon on Saturday on WVOW. If you are in the LA, it's well worth listening to. I would think it will also be on wvowradio.com just after the 8 o'clock newscast in which it airs. The piece has everything from historical background to eye witnesses who still get quite emotional almost 40 years later... to the actual editorial (originally aired on WVOW) by Bill Becker which lit a fire under the ass of the state to do more. It even has some of the local music written about flood. It is all that.. and a bag of City Bakery Pepperoni Rolls.

Well done, Poppa Jay.

I f-in' love real radio!

Speaking for one of the many folks who lost family members in the flood;(although she wasn't there at the time, the house my mother grew up in was washed away) the saddest thing about this whole sorry episode is not only how Arch Moore let Pittston Coal company off the hook with a slap on the wrist, but how the folks in West Virginia recently let another coal company off the hook for mass negligent homicide..

You mentioned Arch, why no mention of Manchin?

Oh, no doubt about.... Manchin as well as his surrogate that he put in charge has thus far sold out...

A few weeks ago they staged a rally for.... The poor coal industry that is having such a tough time...

Most people don't seem to understand that the coal industry actually COSTS the state of West Virginia more than it takes in..

It is a massive corporate welfare program where the employees and all the other folks that get killed in their wake are just a business expense..
