Thanks to the ruling of the Republican appointed majority of the U.S. Supreme court, not only was the vote count in Florida stopped giving GWB the presidency in 2000, America is now a corporate state where elections from the National to the local level will be decided by what is in the best interests NOT of the American people, but of the corporate bottom line..

I'm not "for" this ruling, but I don't see how this is any worse than the megacorps and organized labor backing some PAC-out-of-freaking-nowhere through the 501c3 loophole... Only now they can just back politicians openly. No need to "swiftboat" them anymore.

Even then, as the article mentioned, most large corporations will remain politically agnostic, at least on the surface.

It's up to the American people to keep their bullshit meters on high to weed out the lies.

Even with a democrat in office, the Justice Department is keeping the overlords (in Philly, NYC, Jersey) neutered and their control/influence is too weak to have any kind of impact. Now that we have officially recognized that corporations, a legal creation of government, have the same first amendment rights as human beings, what's next? Do X number of corporations get their own seat in the House of Representatives? Can a corporation run for President?

Under this new ruling, can you imagine a private citizen or some small grass-roots effort trying to overturn a ruling that favors Exxon or Big Pharma or the NAB or the AFL-CIO? The American citizen has officially been silenced.
