KOOL 105 Wheeling

Post by Uncle Shishkabob »

A little birdie tells me billboards are up in Belmont County Ohio promoting 105.5 The River Classic Rock. Anyone know what's going on?

I hadn't heard that, but that's what the station was when it originally came on the air. It didn't last long before it switched to something else...I believe pop music for a while. Then it became generic "Oldies Radio." I think there would be a problem with them calling it "The River" again though, considering that's 106.3's handle.

KOOL 105 already airs a "Classic Hits" format -- no changes in the works -- plus, Keymarket isn't putting up any local billboards for KOOL at this time. Must be for THE RIVER up in Weirton, Uncle Shish.

I did not see the boards, however a good friend did see them on Tuesday. Maybe Lamar placed old RIVER boards up by mistake. 1055 was the River playing Classic Rock many years ago! My wife would be releaved if no change occurs, she loves oldies.

Perhaps it was an old billboard that was inadvertently revealed. It reminds me of a few years ago in Tampa when a billboard for the old 107.3 the Coast along I-275 (one of Tampa's busiest roads) happened to be uncovered when the wrap-around style billboard on top of it was taken off during maintenance work.
