From today, feel free to download another 25 million songs

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

From today, feel free to download another 25 million songs - legally

After a decade fighting to stop illegal file-sharing, the music industry will give fans today what they have always wanted: an unlimited supply of free and legal songs.

With CD sales in free fall and legal downloads yet to fill the gap, the music industry has reluctantly embraced the file-sharing technology that threatened to destroy it. Qtrax, a digital service announced today, promises a catalogue of more than 25 million songs that users can download to keep, free and with no limit on the number of tracks.

Heard a report this morning that none of the music companies have actually reached a license agreement with this company to download the songs. Didn't catch it all, it was on my AM station.

Heard something like that from ABC News this morning, too. Cause of the DRM you can't burn to CD.

But where theres a will, theres a hacker/software.

No, where there's a will, the is a Russian selling un-DRMed tracks on an interface as good as iTunes.
