I have known Pepper for over 50 years.

Was in the Army with Pepper also.

I can tell you some General Telephone stories that make your incident look like a walk in the park.Bar Rat wrote:My one and only run-in with Cincinnati Bell was a complete, unmitigated disaster. They showed up 90 minutes before an install was needed (and was ordered well in advance).
Imbeciles.
So they showed up? Early?

Damn good thing you were their to straighten them out!!!! ....... Good job, Skippy.
Actlually is WAS the Sub-Contractors, and not Cinci-Bell.
My, how the story can change, ah???
So, just what were you doing, that tip and ring flips were a real issue? That shit is just picky......
What were you doing on the telco side of the demarc, (that's how its really spelled)!!
All telco's have issues, mostly because, the customer really doesn't know what to order in the first f'ing place.
That's the real problem. I went from the so-called broadcast industry, to telephone companies.
I never had these "issues". I could read the USOC orders and realize that problems would occure.
And could correct them. The "normal", ( is that possible?? ) telco field installer, just see these services as another pair of wires. Nothing more.
Perhaps, you need some review of the W.E. color code.
A test:
What is the colors for:
Master binder 2, group 6, pair 18??
All color groups are required.
Go!!!!, my stop watch is running.........................

Ah.... great Holiday weekend!!!!Just real-world F'n experience with Cincinnati Bell wiring much of the infastructure at the Kentucky Speedway with REVERSE WESTERN ELECTRIC COLOR-CODE.
This happened with cross-connects to remote dmarcs and the MAIN F_N PHONE ROOM AT THE BASE OF THE TOWER!
I guess in your world, Cincinnati Bell is so ahead of everyone else, toning-out every pair to see where the flip-flops end up (or just dead-head in some cases) is the respect one must pay to such a world-changing telco. Their techs on-site...with their little Cincinnati Bell hats didn't know what was going-on until I walked the pairs with them. And before you say it....THEY WERE THE SUBS THAT DID THE WIRING.
Just specifics. "Bulletproof" requires a complete circuit. Meanwhile, I'll marvel at your greatness.

Re: WSAZ on air mistakes
Crap. Your right. When you order dry pairs and pair 1 is balanced audio and pair 11 is DC voltage. Nothing matters in the color code.
One should have to trace the circuits.
25 dry pairs - Point A to point B. When you attached + and - to pair 1, point a, it shows up on pair 1, point b, and so-on.
There were only 25 pairs running from the demarcation to a cross-connect of 25 pairs.
Thanks for your understanding of the broadcast business.
U-SOC indeed.
Trick question 600-pair or higher?
I'll take a stab at it. I never had to wire a C.O.
If it's master binder 2, group 6 then one assumes you're going over the 600 pair and the outer would repeat with white/orange outer, red/blue inner, yellow/green pair.
Of course, we were only talking about 25 pairs point-to-point not construction of the Sparta, KY C.O.

Re: WSAZ on air mistakes
All that work to get an interview of a 80 year old car-jack victim and then you screw it up
and don't get it on the air. How do you do that and look the photog and reporter in the eye.
They got pain at the pump on tho. good job on that. I am waiting for 18 minutes of John Marra.
If all these stories are on computer, how exactly does someone get the video stories in the wrong order?
This was on MyZ at 10. That story turnde out to be the only news story on the entire newscast.
The rest of the "stories" were chili fest, planting trees, network pieces, and other crap that could have been
put into a pre-recorded newscast before 6pm.
Channel 8 has a far more watchable newscast at 10. At least they have some actual news.
Market leader, indeed.

Re: WSAZ on air mistakes
Tonight: A breaking news story about a car chase.
It went right behind WSAZ studios.
It was the lead story.
The video? People filling up their gas tanks.
What is the point of working to get a breaking story on the air
when someone substitutes "pain at the pump" video.

yep, market and revenue leader by huge numbers in every newscast.
Shall we start posting every mistake on WCHS and WOWK? We should have a good time with that one.

You must realize that Genlock's vast experience cleaning toilets at Public Broadcasting more than qualify him to bash WSAZ as often as possible. He spends too much time in his basement playing with equipment and obsessing over the news. Genlock, there are plenty of women near your home in H-town that will give it up for a mere $20 or so. You should look into that.
