Shooter = Major Malik Nadal Hasan

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

What's the solution to all of this?

I can't think of one. Not a good one anyway.
The only true 'solution' is a reformation of Islam. Much like Martin Luther changed Christianity by his 95 theses, there must be a strong and revolutionary figure of Islam start the reformation process. Granted, I put no faith in such a thing happening anytime soon, but I believe this is the only 'solution'. The primary problem with an 'Islam' reformation is the lack of a dynamic figure that's recognized by the Muslim world as a DIVINE leader. The laws of the Old Testament were rendered 'complete' by the appearance and subsequent crucifixion of Yeshua, the Messiah. There is no such person in Islam, there's only Muhammed.

In the meantime, I'll give no quarter to a religion that is hellbent on converting the world, by the sword if need be. If the bastards want a fight, we must always be willing to protect America, our freedom of religion, and freedom of speech. Yes, that means fighting them. I realize that is in direct disobedience to the Lord's admonition to 'turn the other cheek', and to forgive my brother 'seventy times seventy'. I believe America is the best hope for this world, and is worth fighting for. I'll accept my punishment accordingly.

meh.
America is at that awkward stage.
It is too late to work within the system,
but too early to shoot the bastards.

Agreed. All I'm saying is let the investigation wrap up on the dude at Fort Hood instead of organizing a lynch mob in every American city and town to "hang all the towel heads" ...

No... not hang em... just keep an eye on them, unlike the government did in this case.

Even the Mainstream media is starting to report:

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda,
two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan tried to make contact with people linked to al Qaeda.

It is not known whether the intelligence agencies informed the Army that one of its officers was seeking to connect with suspected al Qaeda figures, the officials said.

One senior lawmaker said the CIA had, so far, refused to brief the intelligence committees on what, if any, knowledge they had about Hasan's efforts.

CIA director Leon Panetta and the Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, have been asked by Congress "to preserve" all documents and intelligence files that relate to Hasan, according to the lawmaker.

On Sunday, Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) called for an investigation into whether the Army missed signs as to whether Hasan was an Islamic extremist.

With all due respect, could it not be that anybody who is given over to a patriotism of one's own country feels the same way? And, is not that simply setting the stage for conflict, if not disaster? "We" think we're right, and "they" think they're right? Who really is right? And how must right be defined and/or determined?

Funny... we watch them, we're accused of being an Orwellian state. We leave them alone, and we're blasted for not being an "Orwellian state".

And this little tidbit from the AP: "Classmates who participated in a 2007-2008 master's program at a military college told The Associated Press that they complained to faculty during the program about what they considered to be Hasan's anti-American views, which included his giving a presentation that justified suicide bombing and telling classmates that Islamic law trumped the U.S. Constitution."

OK... my views hands down.... there are muslims that realize not all teaching in their bible are right ( in my eyes thats about 20% of the worldwide population of muslims), then there are the rest....... It's the only faith I consider to be bullshit just because of its violent encouragings, and the actions of its followers.... thats about where I stop before I whip up more than I'm willing to fight over at any one given point....
Doesn't MSNBC stand for the Media that Spins the News for Barrack's Cabinet?

True. There are a lot of Monday Morning Quarterbacks out there, rattling off lists of what should have happened. I think that, as a country, we haven't found a comfort zone between personal freedom and over-the-line "we need to watch this guy 'cause he's dangerous". Do we base it on looks, on heritage, on nationality, on being a vocal spokesperson against the status quo in this country, on skin color, on past history, or on a nebulous "gut instinct" that can't easily be quantified or coded into law? For every "yes" vote on each definition I offered, someone else can give constitutionally valid reasons to say it's wrong and cannot withstand legal scrutiny.

It sounds like a lot of people dropped the ball along the way. This guy may have been a loose cannon waiting to explode, sort of like the guy at work who curses and throws things and talks about how the boss will be sorry some day --- and no one alerts the higher ups and gives them all the details so appropriate action can be taken.

I still don't think this Fort Hood Shrink Gone Bad is part of some subversive Islamic plot to imbed a "terrorist" inside the U.S. Military. He's just a closet nut job with an Army Commission.

Yea... I'm going to listen to some jerk tell me that "all is well... all is well" while people in white sheets are killing Americans about to go off to war.
Yeah, sure, but what does the KKK have to do with Major Hasan?

I honestly think it is Political Correctness run a muck. It looks to me like PLENTY of warning signs where there, but no one wanted to be tagged as a racist, Muslim hating bigot by doing the right thing.

Maybe not... but one of the crazed Iman's of the Middle East is saying that his actions are the only thing you can do to rectify being in the U.S. military and being Muslim... and this isn't the first incident of this exact same nature.

I agree with this point.... to a point:

I think there's MANY Muslim people who are in conflict, especially in the military. But when push comes to shove, I also think they will choose what they think is right. Right to them is usually the Koran.

This crazy was a combination of Muslim nut and a man in conflict. So what? The outcomes the same right? And he aint the only one. That said, hopefully the authorities will stop the next guy before their political correctness gets more people killed, as in this case.

Agreed. Since he's still alive, Hasan needs a date with the Firing Squad.

Dealing with people who are against the mission of the United States Military should be relatively easy, right? Once they are identified, they get the boot. No tenure issues. No civil service rules. No unions. Bye-bye.

Should someone actually start acting out their holy desires (of any religious flavor) against the United States or their fellow soldiers, then a court martial under the UCMJ should be the next step.

The military is probably the best place to take this kind of direct action and set an example. Deal with the individual problem ... swiftly and permanently.

I agree. And you can substitute "Christian" and "Bible" for "Muslim" and " Koran" and get the same result.

He needs to explain his rants and his attempt (maybe successful) to contact the
Islamic radical movement by e-Mail. He is awake and talking.
We shall see if he really believes or he cops an insanity plea.

That's just asinine. There's a BIG difference in a few "Bible kooks" taking whatever they see fit from the Bible and acting on their interpretation, than an ENTIRE RELIGION of millions of people taking the literal meaning of the Koran as the last word in everything.

Remember, there is NOTHING in the Christian New Testament that tells you to kill or harm ANYBODY. The Old Testament is basically null and void, and is little more than the prelude to the New Testament. Same goes for the Jews: Do you REALLY think they abide by the Old Testament? Of course not! Same reason, but different philosophy. THEY have the Torah that is "sort of" the equivalent of the New Testament, in that it also teaches to LOVE , not kill your fellow man.

So where is the Korans New Testament?

And he may get the nod, but might not get the date... The military will sentence someone to death, but they haven't done an actual execution since 1961.

Non of the above examples involve Christians. Self professed Christians maybe, but not real Christians. It simply doesn't work that way. Need proof? Christ taught only love, not hate. So NONE of the examples hold water. Hitler a Christian? Hell.. he was into Voo-Doo.

Now... if you want to discuss real "religious killing", you have to go back to the Crusades, and there's no doubt that in those days, they did it "for God". Real enlightenment comes slowly. We finally left the Dark Ages and the superstitions behind. Now, there's only one serious Dark Age religion left...
