Sheetz Coming To Barboursville

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Damn! You just had to post this bit about Sonic so I would go out for lunch to spend $7.50 on a so-so burger and an Oreo Blast.

I've had several Sheetz dogs. Some where very good, others were, eh. I like Sheetz, though, way better than the normal gas/snack joint around these parts. Sheetz should rule in every small town in the state. Go MArts suck and always have sucked. Speedways are not great but I end up in them a lot.

I've only eaten at a Sonic once or twice, but like Sheetz, they are a cut above. I bough some kind of lemon drink once there, and when I took the lid off, there was a real lemin wedge in there. I was so impressed. I wish there was a Sonic around these parts, maybe across from the Sheetz I wish was here.

I'll say this, though: Sheetz, Gomart branding SUCKS. Speedway is not terribly bad, for the little branding they do, but not good. I like good branding, but I don't see it much in this area; nice buildings, signs, that kind of stuff. In my opinion the only good branding I see currently is from Sunoco and Chevron, but the use of it is spotty amoung franchisees.

Sonic: A lot of marketing hype and "ambiance" but poor quality food that is overpriced. If you want a 21st century version of a 50s car hop, complete with oldies music playing on the overhead speaker system, but you don't care to eat paper thin hamburgers and rubbery hot dogs and pay an above average price for them, then knock yourself out.

Hoosier, you must be used to a far higher quality of fast food than I.

Sonic's ice cream isn't bad. But then again, it's kinda hard to screw up ice cream.
The Sonic Route 44 sized Cherry Limeaids rock.

Sonic is either awesome or it is horribly bad. I have yet to find the so-so middle ground at the Bensalem Sonic.

My theory is most fast food is ruined by the indifference of tattooed minimum-wagers. Therefore, I theorize that the quality of all fast food joints could be vastly improved if they were only franchised to fraternal organizations. Picture it, you want a burger, you go see Bernie at the drive-thru at the Temple Ali Babba of the Osiris Shrine McDonalds, where a bephezzed Bernie would you greet you by name, give you a great meal prepared by a bephezzed retired Navy cook, and all the procedes would go to the Shriner's Children Hospital (an excellent organization, by the way.) Wouldn't that be great? I don't think a Shriner would give you a large Coke with sticky Coke dripping all down the sides. Plus, imagine how cool it would be to wait in line behind one of those little cars.

I hit a Sonic in Parkersburg last week. Had a Super Sonic Double Cheeseburger, which was fairly good, and a Lime-aid, which was great. The place was neat and clean. Service was fast and friendly. Cost was very reasonable. I'd happily go back. Just thought I'd report.

I heard through the rumor mill that they are also expanding to the Fayetteville/Beckley areas.

Good riddance. I shop the 29th Street Go Mart all the time because it is just too convenient not to. The place is a dump.

Hmmm.... I think this means that I am going to be doing Sonic for lunch. Probable a single cheeseburger and an Oreo Blast.

If they'd just move Sheetz toward the greater Kenova/Cattletsburg/Ashland area I'd be stoked!!!!

We are approaching the last days of the extended HoagieFest at Wawa.

http://www.hoagiefest.com/

I think I can live without 2.99 Shortis for the next few months.

(Sipping Wawa Coffee)

I hope Wawa Coffeetopia specials return.

Wawa is what comes out of the tap. It goes in the sippy cup for your kids.

Sheetz progresses in west Huntington.
Three tankers in yesterday, don't know if it is gas or some sort of pressure test on the fuel system.
Station is on the site of the old bus barn, near shoneys and EMS station 6.
I have never seen a wawa.
