I forgot to mention that the Dowtherm we had was clear. this stuff would freeze at about 40 degrees. we had to keep a heat tape wraped around the dummy load so we couild operate it in the winter time. another time i will post about the fire department and the trouble hosing us off wirh no hot water. lot of fun HAHA

And does anyone remember the editorials from Clark W Davis - and the anchor who's arm was always relaxed on a podium as he leaned foward -- who the hell was that?? This was 67-68ish, I think. My Dad moved over to WHTN news from WCHS because he liked Davis' editorials. Never watched WSAZ - he said to much KY news.

could that have been Frank Thompson? i believe he had a bad arm. do you remember Clark Davis had a show on monday nights, it was Clunker Theatre where they aired very old movies. one time he told that a certain movie was made before Bras were invented and went on to say that Howard Hughes invented them for one of the stars of that time. he said who she was and we were airing her movie but i can't remember who she was. Don't know if that was true or not but made it funny he would always set on a stool with a plain background. we also had a news man that had a false ear. he was a young guy and if you were not told it was false you really could not tell, but we were all told about why i don't know.

And what a flashback! I do remember Davis' movie show - fun, sort of on-the-edge! Was it Davis who also produced low budget horror films - one shot in Huntington? There were a couple of pretty talented guys in that same era that did kids shows - I watched them but most the other kids in the neighorhood were with Mr. Cartoon - George Lewis - Mr. Cartoon. In the 60s local stuff on WHTN was kind of wacho and often very funny. Almost as if the attitude was - hell, no ratings, no money - so just go for it! I don't know if the anchor's name was Frank Thompson - the guy I remember had a flashly, shotgun delivery -- like John Camron Swayze. And this could be just a urban legend --
was there an anchor/new guy in the mid to late 60s who got caught making porno videos in the studio in the wee hours after sign off??
