The Communists in the environmental movement think it is their right to dictate to
others how to use or not use their own property. All in the name of the state.
Does your prior record depend on who you are, what you are or who you are affiliated with.
That same standard would not be allowed in criminal cases but is allowed in denying permits
for environmental reasons. I agree on legal remedies after the fact if a crime or
transgression is committed. I do not think there should be penalties for crimes that
someone thinks may be committed in the future.

No code issues... operator error. When he's not erasing the last quote box (most recent issue), he's erasing one of the brackets on either the opening or closing quote box... both of which throw a foul.

Unfortunately, that's not a valid comparison. However, if you leave your lot full of toxic waste you can bet you'll have to fix it. Drop a couple dozen 55 gallon drums of selenium on your property and see if you don't have to clean it up.

To those of you against mountain top removal methods of mining coal....I have a few stoppage demands too!!

1 Stop deep mining coal. Entire towns are falling in from deep shafts.

2 Stop pumping brine. Arazona in particular is sinking in because of it.

3 Stop the open pit mining of coal in the west. There is nothing to put back....but water. Hole after hole on the land.

4 Stop pumping oil....anywhere. The large voids this causes are now being investigated as a cause of earthquakes.

5 Stop burning wood in your fireplace. Not only are you wasting trees, you're making us sick. (Just ask Denver residents)

6 Stop using any kind of plastic. Plastic is made from coal, which comes from a mine. (Google coal uses/products. You would be supprised at how many.)

7 Stop eating meat. Cows polute. But since your car puts out 10,000 times more polution than a cow, keep one to ride to work.

8 Stop eating chicken. Their heads are cut off while they're alive and nothing can be made from the beaks.

9 Stop eating fish. The ocean is near dead, so fish come from farms that use feed, that then helps to kill the ocean.

10 Stop having children. People are the cause of all the Earth's ills. We don't need any more people.

11 Stop breathing. Your very existance requires polution.

Like collapsing mine shafts, a single oil pit void will not displace enough earth to create even a minimal earthquake. Plate tectonics is a very
powerful thing.

I'm against MTR, but I also realize it is a fact of modern mining. So I don't advocate putting people out of work for its sake.

What I do advocate is finding and developing alternate mining methods to prevent having to do this any more than necessary.

I have always wondered why the flood prone towns like Matewan, Mullens, Logan and others don't move to nearby MTR sites.
The cost, compared to constant rebuilding, would be low. It would shut off the truckloads of federal money
that roll in after each flood to prop up the economy tho. Homeowners and businessmen would then be less dependent
on local government to....... Well, I think I answered my own question.

While this is great news for Fayette County, how many other former strip mines are there that were promised to be developed, but are instead growing weeds?

They would be great windmill sites...



As for the event itself, this is probably the greatest economic boost the area has had since the beginning of Bridge Day thirty-some years ago.

This should also mean badly needed local infrastructure upgrades, such as widening roads and improving dangerous intersections.

There is a simple and obvious solution to our energy so-called problem. Next electric bill, everybody gets one, there will be a little box to check or leave blank, indicating "I consider myself and my family to be Environmentalists, and I am willing to use less electricity for the good of the Planet." Everybody who checks the box, the elctric company comes out and disconnects their meter. Problem solved, power martyrs appeased, demand reduced, problem solved.
