Such job postings are made because they have to, not because they don't have someone ready for the job. I see this job posted frequently. Perhaps they are only hiring continuing students.

As the time slot for this job (6 am to maybe noon) is one of the two times people actually listen
to public radio, It won't be a student. They want someone mature enough to show up and be serious about
the situation. Anyone applying for the job should listen to the 6 am to 9 am segment to see what it is all about.
NPR news and local news for 3 hours. Then NAZI funeral music. Don't joke about that during the interview.
These people are so serious it is comical.
Go in prepared. Learn to pronounce the names of composers etc. Dress for it. Act serious. Do not bring
a beer to the interview.

One more thing.
If anybody in your blood line is not a white European type, make sure you fill out the EEO
portion of the employment form. Is real important. Most people qualify for this.
Native Americans count big to EEO.

Ask to speak to HR dept. They will transfer you to Beckley.
Ask them where your form is. Be polite as these office drones are sensitive.

Office politics is rampant. You can play that as a game.
Managers are obsessed with their power and keeping their
place in the pecking order. Some do their jobs too.
Any kind of decision is hard to find. Managers are graded on total mistakes
so if they do nothing and make no decisions, they make no mistakes.
Micromanaging can be a problem.
The morning shift is a great one as most of your day is complete
before any of the decision avoiders show up. Free parking.
Food provided during fund raising which seems to go on forever. Donuts.
Most of the regular employees are very good. The managers are, for the most part,
academic types. Baffled by technology and without strong personnel skills.
The past Executive Director ruled by tantrums directed at her personal staff.
New guy actually has done useful work in his life. As I understand, things have
gotten much better over the past several years. Lightened up.
No push-ups or running around at high port.

I always wanted to fake an employment application for one of the lucrative, easy jobs
at public broadcasting. Like Program Director or some such.
I would portray myself as a holder of a masters degree from some liberal arts school
and a PHD candidate. A female, veteran, combat wounded and disabled (but ambulatory).
Black, with native American heritage too, lesbian and left-handed. Did I leave any out?
That would be an application sure to cause panic if a well connected political figure
or contributor wanted his idiot son or daughter to get the job.

Actually, I've come to the realization that life is just not enough any more. I find myself under a feeling of desperation; wanting more, wanting to do more...just terribly antsy. I was hoping once i hit my mid-40s, I would have settled down and went with the flow...sadly, I think that stage was in my mid-twenties. (Is this that middle-age crisis thing I've always teased others about? Karma's a biotch. )
