We bought a Crown Vic and I love it. Not a PI, just the stock family car.
of course you could also visit www.edmunds.com and do a side by side comparison. they've also got a section that estimates the mainenance costs year by year over the life of the vehicle.... i won't buy another car without researching it there first.
One of the two manufacturer's sites (I'm pretty sure it was Toyota, but I may have to go back and do it again) had a "comparison chart" that linked to Edmunds as it's source of information.
Which brings up another point: why was information on the Civic so much harder to locate on the Honda site than info on the Corolla was on the Toyota site? The Toyota site just threw everything out there in plain view for the Corolla, while the Honda folks seemed to want to "hide" a lot of info (warranty, option package comparison, some mileage and maintainance data) in other areas of the website and not right on the car that you were looking at's page.

A PI is a sweet vehicle if you can get one new.
I have to say that I love my Grand Marquis. V8 power and 28 MPG on the highway and low 20's for city highway mix. You cannot get that in a light truck or SUV.
Of course, a P71 will not do as well in fuel economy with the 3.27 gears.

No, but really. If you're conflicted because one feels good and the other looks good, go for the feeler. Unless you're going crawling around in the shadows for hot babes, looks don't matter. That's why I drive a minivan. I could(n't) care less about what folks think.
