The highest rated morning jock on 102.7. WTIO FM was Charley Coleman, the former motion picture sidekick of the 1930-1940's cowboy motion picture star, Gene Autry. As a jock at WGKV AM, Charley once announced the Sheb Wooley song as, "The Purple Peter Eater". I was listening when it happened. (He Swore It never happened) This guy was funny.

Re: Good too see...
Kinda pissed that no one laughed at my "Dave's mom got a 1/4 pound weiner last night" joke.
102 sounds better now than it ever has, IMHO...ratings then compared to now is like comparing apples to oranges...the marketplace has changed since then...not discounting your old show, nor anyone else for that matter.
Bob, glad you tweaked your processing...love the seperation and the tempo dude...you douche.

Re: Good too see...
Clay, it's not that your joke wasn't worthy of a laugh, it is because in this context, the 1/4 pound weiner was referring to a hot dog. We do not make jokes about hot dogs. Try your 1/4 pound weiner joke over on the Show Prep board and we will laugh along.Clay JD Walker wrote:Kinda pissed that no one laughed at my "Dave's mom got a 1/4 pound weiner last night" joke.

Oh... and 102 does sound better than it ever has. I totally second that. I listen to CK and LJ every morning and that mid-day guy isn't bad either.. but I hear he is kind of a... oh nevermind.
Nick, just do your thang and contribute. As I said when you first posted, we need some fresh perspective.
Damn. This has been an EPIC THREAD! At the very least, we should thank Nick for bringing some lurkers out. I hope everyone who came out for this epic battle of wits and unwisdom will continue to contribute. This really is a kick-ass site.

I should clarify.. at least for my part, I would have to be 99% sure I was looking at the right person... verified through a picture or in the case of my phone interview, his employment history coincided with his post (i.e. he trashed his previous employer. The same employer who he listed as a reference, by the way).cgarison wrote:There are two other people in my field in Philly with my name. 5 additional in the United States. I am pretty glad we are all pretty professional about this stuff otherwise I would be in deep stuff when I went out looking for a gig.
I would never rule out someone unless I was pretty darn sure I was ruling out the right person.

I was wondering how what the hell you know because Dave's mom does not brag about her escapades?Big Media wrote:Clay, it's not that your joke wasn't worthy of a laugh, it is because in this context, the 1/4 pound weiner was referring to a hot dog. Martinsville Speedway has the best hotdogs, although I am very partial to both Skyline chilli dogs and Morrisons dogs in Logan.
Dave is an old washed up has been. How long have you been playing Lum and Abner now?
WEBN in Cincinnati is the only real radio station in town.
Nunley blows.
Kidd, I'm planning a trip to Cincy and will bring you back some more Hudy Delight.

Thanks Clay, we got knee surgery for the squirrel that runs in the cage that powers everything on Radio Dr.
That and we can afford to feed it Twice a week now. Really cleared up a lot of issues with the audio chain.
Okay, I'll take 2nd highest rated morning show ever at 102. I didn't even know they were on the air in the 50's.

Kind of a trick answer, isn't it? Back in the day, WTIP AM 1240 was the dominant station in the simulcast operation, with WTIO FM 102.7 being more of a novelty and an "also ran" in the Charleston radio market. I'm just sayin' ...SHADOW wrote:The highest rated morning jock on 102.7. WTIO FM was Charley Coleman, the former motion picture sidekick of the 1930-1940's cowboy motion picture star, Gene Autry.
Translators are a Pox on the FM radio dial.

Damn. Someone who shares the love of FROG (even though it's a diluted-shell of its former-self) and Jessie Jones' blood-ass-red hotdogs.
Are you related to someone from Logan County or something?
Yes Nunley blows. But he knows that. He's just checking if he can see his name - no matter what the context.
I guess mentioning Dave's mom and Hudepohl for the beer-category should round-out the....oh wait.
Clay...are you going to play "Alvin and the Chipmunks" on your station this year...and ... if so...how would anyone be able to tell?
That should do it....

So I noticed the vendomatic here at Entercom GSO is stocked up with those Martinsville Dogs...just isn't the same without the aftertaste of race fuel...gonna pass on the Chipmunks, but I will give the 'ol 2.58% torque to Indian Outlaw and other favorites...CraigMoore wrote:

No one's even slightly curious as to why a house was 99+ degrees inside?
This thread has went in so many directions, why not add hot houses to the mix?
How hot is your house tonight?

I dunno. The house is cool, tonight, but the beer is flat.

Alright, I'll bite. Why was your house 99 degrees? On fire? Over active thyroid gland? New Porn?

New thermostat won't kick the furnace off. It ran wide open about 3 hours straight the other night. Came back to a sauna. Had to manually turn it off.
Thermostat won't kick it on, either. It doesn't do anything.
It's an old gas floor furnace.
Any ideas?

I bought a gas furnace with a millivolt thermostat.
It works even with the power off.
Nice to be warm even with no power.
