My Home Town

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

My Home Town

OMAR — While volunteer groups in Omar, Switzer and Monaville have done a good job of deterring theft and burglary over the past few years, crime watch officials say that crime has been replaced by the world’s oldest profession — prostitution.

Members of the Omar Area Crimewatch said recently that as the shady ladies are ran out of Logan, Mount Gay and West Logan and other areas where they were common over the past few months they have relocated in the Omar area.

"They are soliciting the coal truck drivers," OACW President Larry Rogers said. "Truck traffic is heavy on the road day and night and they are out there at all hours trying to flag the drivers down.”

OACW members said the alleged hookers are not just an eyesore and nuisance, but they can also be a safety hazard due to their enthusiasm for waving down prospective customers while in the highway and the concern that some of them might be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while wandering into the road.

One member said he encountered one of the women at an area convenience store and she "smelled like a brewery."

"They wander into the road trying to flag down traffic and I am afraid one of them is going to get hit by a car or truck," one elderly member said. "Or it could lead to an automobile accident."

"We just can't put up with this," Rogers said, discussing other parts of the country where prostitutes and their clients have been filmed by regular citizens or television stations until they relocated.

Just one of the hundreds of side jobs that coal produces.

One of the ladies picked up had $300.10 on her. The arresting officer asked her who gave her ten cents and she replied, "Everybody!" <rim shot>

Business must be bad. BJ's were $10 in the car on McDonalds lot in the 90's.

Anytime you see a coal truck parked along 119 with a car parked behind it....there's a business transaction going on in the cab.  Have you met Tonda?
