FLINTSTONE — A Florida man was killed on Interstate 68 late Saturday after he lost control of his vehicle and it overturned in the roadway.
A Maryland State Police news release indicated Jeffery C. Justice, 31, of Clermont, Fla., was traveling west near Flintstone at about 8:49 p.m. when the incident occurred. Justice was transported to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Collateral damage ensued when the driver of a Dodge Neon slowed to avoid striking Justice’s white Ford van when a third vehicle, a Freightliner tractor-trailer operated by John S. Olson, 43, of West Chester, Pa., struck the rear of the Neon.
Neither of the two drivers of those vehicles were injured, police said, and both refused medical treatment.
I-68 westbound was closed for approximately four hours while an accident reconstructionist was called in to assist with the investigation.
Charges are pending, police said.
