The Jesus Christ Show: It's a little creepy to me.

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

The Jesus Christ Show: It's a little creepy to me.

Southpark has featured the Jesus Christ Show as a focal point in several episodes. It never occurred to me that this was anything but a dreamed-up joke. But a few weeks ago, I actually heard "The Jesus Christ Show" on my local talk radio station WVTS. I heard it again last week, apparently being on the Sunday line-up now.

To me... it's really creepy listening to "Jesus himself" talking on the radio. And when he takes callers, it's even creepier when some nutcase calls and Jesus is caught off-guard in his response and has trouble ending the segment "gracefully".

This show has been around for several years, becoming available for syndication last year, I believe. I've subscribed to the podcast for some time now.

I found it on KFI one Sunday morning way back in 2004. I love the concept of talking "to" Jesus in the first person. It somewhat personalizes the subject matter, rather than abstractly talking about "some guy in the sky". He is also friendly and non-judgmental -- two qualities that are sorely lacking by many preachers and teachers of the Word.

"Jesus Christ" is actually Neil Saavedra, who is also a sidekick and substitute host on Bill Handel's weekday morning show.

Here's his "Neil's Believe it or Not" page, which is somewhat related to the topic.

Sorry dad, but you and I both know I've had a haircut, and I only carry Ak-47s.
