I had forgotten just how many movie theaters we had here at one time. Not one of them is in business today:

Atleast we have to of them left.. The Labelle has been restored in South Charleston and a few years ago Ken Heckler was on hand for a showing of the film "The Bridge At Remagen"

And of course WVSU owns the Capital...

Urban Renewal in the 70's and again in the 80's really did old Charleston in..

Very under rated movie..

When it was finally released on DVD I was shocked that It hadn't become a classic much like Bridge on the River Kwai..

Well, the basic events of Bridge on the River Kwai happened. The building of the bridge by British POWs. Pretty much all the rest was ficitionalised.

The theatre in Logan was probably either the Capital or The Logan Theatre. Capital is closed...Logan Theatre is now The Coalfield Jamboree. Volunteers restored it is now concert hall. George Jones, Billy Ray Cyrus, and others have played there in the last 15 years or so. I'm not a "sound guy" but Ricky Scaggs told me backstage one "you guys don't know what you have here...the acoustics in this place are great...they don't make buildings like this any more". Kidd Conley's mom enjoys the mosh pit.
