Oh, here's Al...
As the long, snowy winter is winding down, Mr. Al has emerged from his fossil fuel heated mansion.

Doesn't MSNBC stand for the Media that Spins the News for Barrack's Cabinet?

It does not matter what side of the fence you are on or the spin you want to have on the statement, but the thesis statement of the article rings true regardless of being on the left or right.
Which brings me to claim that the development of new energy resources should become the Manhattan Project of the 21st century. The CO2 argument is a moot point when we realize that we need other sources of energy to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. I am not worried about global warming. I am worried about economic crisis reoccurring when the price of oil goes back to $140/barrel.Of course, we would still need to deal with the national security risks of our growing dependence on a global oil market dominated by dwindling reserves in the most unstable region of the world, and the economic risks of sending hundreds of billions of dollars a year overseas in return for that oil. And we would still trail China in the race to develop smart grids, fast trains, solar power, wind, geothermal and other renewable sources of energy — the most important sources of new jobs in the 21st century.
The first step in a successful revolution is to defeat all competing revolutionaries.

I agree. Develop it all.
Energy shouldn't be an either/or proposition.
It's a done deal if cap and trade is passed. All energy prices will be artificially high to "wean" the little people off of using so much fossil fuel.I am not worried about global warming. I am worried about economic crisis reoccurring when the price of oil goes back to $140/barrel.
The problem is there are not enough alternate energy sources to make up the difference in demand. The only other option is to adversely affect the economy, and the lifestyles of Americans.
Manhattan project first. Then fossil fuel demand would naturally drop. But there's no sense in punishing people for keeping their houses warm and having transportation to work. They shouldn't tax and penalize people's needs.
