ZRock 94.5 now ZHoHo 94.5?

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

I say they go either News/Talk or maybe Fox Sports Radio. It's hard to imagine many formats that wouldn't cannibalize 102 or QBE. They have a N/T station on FM in Bristol, too.

A cool choice would be to go 80s/90s as "Super 94.5" with the original branding and imaging of 102.7. Plus Bob Campbell in the morning. Everyone who grew up here loved Bob & Josh. I think I still have the vibrator recall phone call on cassette somewhere. You ask any valley native thirty-something about that bit, and I guarantee they'll start laughing.

With Mix much more classic rock these days (lots of Beatles, Zeppelin, etc.) there is a gaping hole there between Mix and V100 for an upbeat 80s/90s station minus the Michael Bolton and Celine Dion. And with Super 94.5 at its side, Electric would be free to fight the Beat for the younger demos.

But...if I had my choice they'd never have flipped. I truly enjoyed Z-Rock over the last 6 years. The music, jocks and imaging were great, and I really enjoyed extremely short commercial stop sets. But I guess that's why they flipped.

I'll never forget the awful Sunday morning when I got in my car and "Santa Baby" blared at high volume. I'm still scarred from it. RIP Z-Rock. You will be truly missed by some of us...

I'm wondering when that early 90s techno/dance music stuff will come back around ...
(Think C&C Music Factory, et al)

I was being goofy... But it wouldn't surprise me if they flipped to some variant of country.

All I know is they just sent another percentage of the Charleston audience to Octane 20 on Sirius... Even if they go back to Z in January, an active rock audience won't hang around that long.

105 may get a default share or two, but don't be surprised if most of those shares just "vanish".

F-in' A, brother. That, right there, is two reasons I switched to country in the 90's. Plus, I has a metal head and couldn't tolerate all the Pearl Jam and Nirvana wannabes any better than I could the barrage of Elton John, The Spice Girls, and Ace of Base (shudder).

I don't know who Shanen Wright is but I owe you lunch.
Thanks. I don't even think I have the "vibrator bit" any more.
Uh...I am looking for work.

FOX Sports Radio has been picking up quite a few affiliates...

Might be worth a try. FM isn't just for music anymore.

And in Raleigh news... Clear Channel follows a big mistake with a bigger one.

After killing 106.1 RDU's rock heritage by flipping it to country... they're now flipping it to "hot talk" in January. Rush, Hannity, and Beck are the anchors. Probably going to call it "Rush Radio" like they're doing in Greensboro.

Funny part is, they did such a crappy job marketing 106.1 as a country station, in 6 months no one will remember that it was. The number of "The Home of Rock and Roll" t-shirts, bumper stickers and license plates still blanketing the market is almost scary.

94.5 in GSO flips from Spanish to RushRadio945 as well...

Let's be honest...RDU wasn't ever a player in the world of twang.

They should have never flipped in the first place. How about trying to do a good job with the format you have, before you cutting to mediocrity at a new one.

They needed to flip formats... it should have been back to rock.
