Obama Strikes Capt. Morgan Pose
I usually don't post links nor do I hit them, but here's a legitimate Show Prep item that may have slipped under the radar.
Obama Gives $2.7 BILLION in tax breaks to British Rum Distiller:

There's your tax dollars at work. You liked C4C for the UAW? You'll love Dispensations For Drunks.. and it will only cost you another $2,700,000,000 plus interest! (Or in other other terms, another $40 for Bob Campbell.)

Re: Obama Strikes Capt. Morgan Pose
I think this actually was in the news... buried as a last paragraph of all the "bail out" stories... along with the wooden arrow makers. I don't remember them saying it was a British distiller though... Very interesting.

Re: Obama Strikes Capt. Morgan Pose
So ... Obama is rolling back the tax on a bottle of Captain Morgan to a lesser amount.
The company will then build a new plant in the Virgin Islands, a U.S. Territory.
A tax credit spread over 30 years coming directly from decreasing the sales tax on the product.
I thought you guys liked that kind of thinking?
Or do you like it only when a Republican President does it?
Or maybe this is Wild Accusation #737,659 you're throwing at Obama, hoping that somehow it will stick.
Next time, post an article from a credible source.

Bailout of U.S. Banks Gives British Rum a $2.7 Billion Benefit
June 26 (Bloomberg) -- In June 2008, U.S. Virgin Islands Governor John deJongh Jr. agreed to give London-based Diageo Plc billions of dollars in tax incentives to move its production of Captain Morgan rum from one U.S. island -- Puerto Rico -- to another, namely St. Croix.

Well ... no he can't. It's not idealogically possible, but I doubt you can see that through the fog of Omama hatred that consumes you.Jet Black wrote:Love the poster. Be all four? Yes He Can!

That's why politics have gotten to such a state in this country. I'm interested in what's best for everybody, you're interested in being the winner, Ms. Pelosie. So be it.

Re: Obama Strikes Capt. Morgan Pose
Politics is where it is because the Right can't understand or accept that Obama's election victory was a repudiation of eight years of George Bush and Dick Cheney. The majority of the voters wanted the country to go in a different direction. Obama is doing exactly what he told people he would do if elected, and you guys have shifted gears and now live to destroy the President in any way possible, because it's the only way your side will see any kind of victory in 2010 or 2012, and that's what is most important to you. The Republicans have no plan for the American people and no obvious direction. Their only tie is to come together to undermine our President.Jet Black wrote:That's why politics have gotten to such a state in this country. I have never seen such a coordinated and well-funded attack on one person like the Republicans have unleashed on Barack Obama. We haven't seen this kind of hatred since ... since ... well, when Bill Clinton was elected in 1992. You've called him everything in the book and spent millions of dollars from an apparently bottomless money pit to derail anything Obama tries to accomplish. Someone doesn't like losing and being the minority party for a change, do they?
And, for the record, you ARE NOT interested in what's best for the country, Jet. You want a non-existant ultra right wing wet dream America, where everything is based on survival of the fittest and a ruling class of financial elites controls the purse strings and everything is good as long as it turns a profit. You somehow see yourself as being a controlling factor and a winner in this arrangement and you couldn't care less about what happens to anybody else.
By the way, it's spelled "Pelosi".
I'm done with this thread, I've had my say. Peace Out.

Re: Obama Strikes Capt. Morgan Pose
It was more of a repudiation of our almost-economic collapse, of which the timing could not have been worse for McCain.Hoosier Daddy wrote:Politics is where it is because the Right can't understand or accept that Obama's election victory was a repudiation of eight years of George Bush and Dick Cheney.
I will give him that... I thought that he would be forced back to the mushy middle, but so far he seems intent on steering this country towards a hard left. The majority of the voters wanted the country to go in a different direction. Obama is doing exactly what he told people he would do if elected,
I also think that he will gladly sacrifice a second term for a chance to set the course.
I expect to see a blitzkrieg of far left legislation between now and November specifically designed to overwhelm the republicans, because this window of time will probably be the last real chance the progressive left will have to get some of their stuff passed for at least the next decade... After then, it will be much harder to get moderates and dems in unsafe seats on board for a lot of it in an election year.and you guys have shifted gears and now live to destroy the President in any way possible, because it's the only way your side will see any kind of victory in 2010 or 2012, and that's what is most important to you.
