I stumbled across my old pay sheet from V-100. (I cant remember how I got this, as it was the stations)
$1.60 an hour for a 6 day work week. Then, I had to pay 50 cents a day to cross the Turnpike Bridge. Try that with a wife and kid in 1969. Tough even then.

Oh sure.... and gas was only 35 cents a gallon. (with about 15 miles to the gallon). But taking home $200 a month to feed a family of 3 plus groceries, rent utilities was still tough!
