Michael Jackson Dies

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Michael Jackson Dies

Post by Tim Tyler »

TMZ has just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells TMZ Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

Perhaps now MJ will find the peace that he sought while he was alive.

I am surprised that stations haven't been playing "Pop Is Dead" by Radiohead this evening -- at least not from what I've seen on yes.com. It's a rather obscure song, but one that seems fitting given the circumstances.

Agreed. MJ was a sad testiment about how stage parents and show business can rob a child of true happiness.
MJ's scarred, deformed plastic-surgery-gone-awry face was a portrait of self-hatred for what he had become.

Rest in peace, Michael.

This is terrible.

Two icons of my youth died today.

Better to remember Michael Jackson as he was.

From foxnews.com ....

The L.A. County Coroner's Office has taken possession of Jackson's body and an autopsy is expected Friday.
Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Lt. Greg Strenk said the department's robbery-homicide department was investigating Jackson's death because of the high-profile nature of the pop star.

Definitely so. I choose to forget everything done by Jackson post-Thriller.

A lady being interviewed on Today (Maureen Dowd? This person reported for Vanity Fair) chose to rip Michael, referring to 'the lives he ruined.' Matt Lauer tried to steer clear of this-at the end of the interview, the lady did say she admired his music.

This wasn't simply a matter of someone with stones telling him 'no' when he proposed ginormously bad decisions, as was also the case with Elvis. Uri Geller allegedly asked Michael if he was lonely...also allegedly, Jackson looked at Geller after a few seconds, then stated, "Uri Geller...I am a very lonely man."

Not taking sides here-the extent of the ironies and convoluted nature of this tortured genius will not be known for decades. As a consumate professional, driven to perfection, you know in your heart you could never top 'Thriller.' Where else to go, but down?
