Penske is a hell of a businessman.
He could make Saturn work as a standalone brand.

My understanding is that he wants the dealer network, not the cars.

He also has attempted to purchase other brands from auto manufacturers for the last 10 years. Penske tried to acquire Freightliner from Daimler as far back as 2001.

I am pretty confident that he has the credit and financing.

The very idea, a car guy single-ownering a car builder once again, for the first time in ages. I how exciting that could be! Maybe if he buys Saturn, they'll throw in Pontiac.

Remember that horrible Pontiac version of the Citation called a Phoenix???? Well somebody in GM think that when the winds of doom and gloom blow over, Pontiac will rise from the ashes just like that - A regular Firebird (so to speak - pun intended.)

I've thought of that too, maybe it will happen, but there will be no independent Pontiac dealers left by then.
