Today's Gazette Mail features a story about Charleston native Alec Ross, who started out as a "Teach for America" volunteer , and now is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's senior adviser on innovation. A key player in tech policy planning during the Obama campaign and transition, he's in charge of finding ways to use technology as a tool for improving poverty, health care, human rights and other social ills around the globe.
***"Senior adviser on innovation"? What a GREAT title! Where do I get one of those?
Anyway, dear old dad, talking about his son in the article made the remark ""He just believes there's more to life than college football," his father said. "He doesn't sit on his behind eating pork rinds and drinking beer".
Now... who exactly is he referring to? Damned near every West Virginian as far as I can tell.
While it's true that there are WAY too many pork rind beer guzzling chicken eating (original recipe) NASCAR fans out there.... does he have to point this out while living right in the smack middle of them?
