Detroit's two newspapers are looking to go to three-day-a-week delivery.
Free Press and Daily news. Abbreviated papers available on the news stand
the other days. Principal delivery method will be the web.
The end is near for the print media.

Well, that and US News is down to monthly...Newsweek is skimming down on news and going to more editorial/thought pieces and cutting the rate base, The Christian Science Monitor is abandoning print in its entirety...Autoweek is going to every other week. The end of print is, I fear, nearer than I'd like.

Print is yesterday's news today. If newspapers can sell enough ads, the print editions won't be missed at all. We live in an era of incredible access to information. Let's enjoy it and not be afraid. I'm excited for the future.

Autoweek is going to every other week. The end of print is, I fear, nearer than I'd like.

What is even more sad is what is happening to sites like TheCarConnection.com. The daily news is no longer on the site which has been blown away by the coverage of Gawker Media's Jalopnik and AOL's AutoBlog.

PC Magazine is no longer in print. PC/Computing has gone for many years. Computer Shopper has been toast for the last decade and a ghost of the glory that it used to be.

The part that amazes me it that we are killing print magazines, but the British has taken it to a specialized artform. Future Publishing has many mags on computing and photography that I purchase, but at $10.00 (prox) per issue, I am slow to spend the money now.

I was a regular reader of Mad Magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly, and others for years. I just get all the stuff I need from either online or TV...

I honestly can't remember the last time I bought a magazine.

I subscribe to two magazines: Playboy and ESPN the Magazine.

Playboy is still relevant enough and has enough ultra-sexy women and great articles to keep my attention, though things like video game reviews in there aren't at all trustworthy because of such a wide lead time, not to mention them being completely obsolete in the era of Gamespot and IGN (and even message board sites like GameFAQs).

ESPN the Magazine I get only because it came with being a subscriber to ESPN Insider (for Draft King fantasy football purposes) but it is decent lounging reading material and nice to have around the house for guests as a coffee table offering.
