When I lived in Huntington there was a Jolly Pirate literally just a few blocks down the road from my apartment. Mmmmm!

So did a new boatload of Indians make their way to WV and VA and find that there was an opportunity to add more DD franchises to the world????

Personally, there's nothing really special about their doughnut. Give me Jolly Pirate or Krispy Kreme any day.

Rating Dunkin on just their doughnut business is not appropriate considering the balance of the menu. 10 years ago I would make a trip out of my way to get bagels and creamcheese from Dunkin instead of Tim Horton which was on my street as I left St. Albans. Their breakfast sandwiches are topself for quick on the go breakfast. Their coffee products are awesome although I would purchase more if they would put their plain coffee in paper cups like their cappuccinos and lattes instead of the foam. And the Coolatta line of frozen coffees and juices are a great alternative to the Frappuccino at Starbucks. In all, Dunkin is the shiznit in Philly if you want coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and other foods all during the day without the snooty attitude of Starbucks.

The only problem is that all the franchises in this town are owned by Indians that cannot speak English well. I know of only few exceptions. Like the Dunkin which is run by senior citizens as a community project (5 blocks from my pad) and I worry if I am going to get my order before they collapse in order to take a dirt nap. Another close to work and within two blocks of a great Starbucks and a Barnes & Noble Superstore is run by dippy teens and very young adults and these kids have never been able to place an order correctly.

Did I mention that Wawa Coffee is cheaper, can be finished the way you want with cream/sugar by you at the counter and the clerks are all American and speak English. Plus! I can get a Pepperoni Bagel Melt for breakfast with my coffee. Mmmmm. Mmmmm.

Now you know why Jeepy struggles with weight in Philly. Wawa/Dunkin is open 24/7 with great food and steak shops are on every corner not occupied by a pizza place. And half the steak shops are open 24/7 with real steak, egg, and cheese (plus fried onions and mayo for me) on an Amoroso roll. Damn good eats in this town.

Today I stopped at a local gas station in New Martinsville, years ago known as "The Pantry Store".
Now it's a 7-eleven. I almost doubled over in laughter, when I looked at the lady training the "new hire".
I swear, I have seen him on video's of places like New York, and there on his red jacket, was pinned his company issued name tag. "ABEDUEL"!
Woooooooo, the small town of New Martinsville, has entered the international arena.

Just imagine the fun you are going to have when to try to order a cup of coffee and jelly doughnut from Abeduel through a drive through speaker?

They're not out of business AFAIK. They just don't have any in Nashville (or Tampa or Birmingham or anywhere else I've ever lived). I did have some JP doughnuts when I was back in Huntington last year, and... they were as delicious as I remembered!
