I finally saw gas priced under $3.00 a gallon here in Tennessee yesterday. Quite a change from the gas shortage and $4.00 a gallon prices of just one month ago...

Saw 2.99 last Saturday in Virginia. They're usually about 15-25 cents cheaper than NC. Prices here have dropped almost a quarter this week.

On my beerrun to NJ, I filled up the land yacht for $2.35/gallon. With the best in PA being $2.65, I think I covered my $2.00 "Get the Hell out of Jersey Tax." And my boy Corzine is trying to find ways to make it more expensive by adding tolls to I95 North of Philly - The only free bridge out of Jersey.

Nov RBOB at 1.4779....Dec RBOB at 1.4497.....gasoline should be definitely below $2 in non-high-tax states right now and possibly/probably on into next year....


By the way, those numbers are dollars and cents, and "RBOB" is "Reformulated Blendstock for Oxygenate Blending"...it's the real refined gasoline that gets ethanol and whatever other EPA-mandated crap (all those "boutique blends" that you hear about) added to it....essentially "wholesale gasoline".....if you follow this price and your local prices, you can kinda establish your area's typical markup; then, you can keep an eye out for RBOB's price and the direction it's going, add your typical markup, and have a good idea of what your gas price is going to be in a few days....you know, answer the question "should I get gas today or wait?"....either for yourself or for your audience....it's potentially very volatile, though, (even within the day) and things like pipeline shutdowns for hurricanes and local competitive situations (or lack thereof) can affect retail price versus RBOB....you can definitely get this and make it useful for you, but be kinda careful........

Southeastern PA should be headed to $2.50/gallon in the next week and for the rest of the year based on those numbers. Jersey will be about 20 cents cheaper due to no state taxes.

In overseas trading this morning, crude has dipped into the high $50s.

Is this a lack of demand or is it a lack of money to trade it and speculate in the markets?
