Bridge Day Sharp Shooters

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Bridge Day Sharp Shooters

Post by CoolBreeze »

This morning as I was taking some long shots of Bridge Day, I noticed a blue tent taking up some room on the north side observation deck. Inside were sharpshooters. I'm sure they (and others positioned in other locations) have been there each year since 9-11. To me, this is really sad, and overkill (forgive the pun).

Wasn't the governor there this year? That would expain the overkill.

That is one hell caliber to be using to snipe a potential terrorists. Yes, it will a lethal kill after being fired from 2500 feet away, but are the State Police responsible for cleaning up the mess??? Really?
Are we sure that the State Police are not having to kill black bear that might wonder into the landing zone by accident.

That kind of unnecessary overkill makes me proud to be an American.

Those are 7.62mm rifles.
Standard stuff.
Looks more like a recruiting thing.
Maybe a show of force.
The real ones were over in the weeds somewhere.

The rounds definitely look 7.62, but The holes in the barrels look closer to 9mm. But then again, the photograph can make for wierd distortions when converting a 3D world into a 2D image.

Maybe the Fayetteville Wal-Mart heard that Hallburn would be in the area.

I wonder how long it will be before removable fences are installed on both sides to keep people from coming here to jump off of it...

It's become the Golden Gate of the East.

Remember the story of the first person to commit suicide off the bridge back in 1980? It was a doctor from Fayetteville. He even took his Jack Russel Terrier with him. However, he didnt die from the impact. According to the official autopsy, the cause of death was "multiple dog bites". 8O

You're all wrong - The snipers are there in case any ultralights try to infiltrate the jumping area.

Would the target be the pilot or the motor?

Uh, yeah....!

Planes keep going -- at least for a while -- without pilots! :P
