George Carlin -- RIP

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

In memory of George Carlin

“As a matter of principle, I never attend the first annual anything."
“Eat right, exercise regularly, die anyway!”
“Frisbeetarianism is the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck.”
“Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.”
“Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy.”
“‘I am’ is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that "I do" is the longest sentence?”
“I don't have hobbies; hobbies cost money. Interests are quite free.”
“I have as much authority as the Pope, I just don't have as many people who believe it.”
“I like you. May the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house.”
“I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately.”
“I thought about how mothers feed their babies with tiny little spoons and forks so I wondered, what do Chinese mothers use? Toothpicks?”
“I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.”
“I'm not concerned about all hell breaking loose, but that a PART of hell will break loose... it'll be much harder to detect.”
“If a pig loses its voice, is it disgruntled?”
"If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.”
"If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, doesn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted?”
“If you can't beat them, arrange to have them beaten”
“If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?”
"Is a vegetarian permitted to eat animal crackers?”
“It's never just a game when you're winning.”
“Some national parks have long waiting lists for camping reservations. When you have to wait a year to sleep next to a tree, something is wrong.”
"Some people see things that are and ask, Why? Some people dream of things that never were and ask, Why not? Some people have to go to work and don't have time for all that ...”
"The other night, I ate a a real nice family restaurant, every table had an argument going on"
"The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, ‘You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.’"
“There's no present. There's only the immediate future and the recent past.”
“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”
“Weather forecast for tonight: dark. Continued dark overnight, with widely scattered light by morning.”
“Well, if crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight? They never mention that part to us, do they?"
“What if there were no hypothetical questions?”
“When cheese gets it's picture taken, what does it say?”
“When someone asks you, A penny for your thoughts, and you put your two cents in, what happens to the other penny?”
"When someone is impatient and says, 'I haven't got all day,' I always wonder, How can that be? How can you not have all day?”
"Every day I get up and look through the Forbes list of the richest people in America. If I'm not there, I go to work."

So, will someone put this to rest for me;

When George's star began to shine, it was said many times that he had worked at Ashland's WCMI-AM for at least two weeks. It was a big deal back then.

Can someone debunk this?

It is also rumored that Carlin worked at WNOR-AM in Norfolk too.

The older I get, the funnier his material becomes.

He was a brilliant free thinker if there ever was one...
“There's no present. There's only the immediate future and the recent past.”
Crap. One could write volumes of philosophical material on just this premise.
