I liked "Photograph" better. That was actually their first single.

I don't think they expected all of the success of Freshman, since it blew up almost a year after the album was released.

BTW, someone dropped a CD off at the station today (you know how it is...oh this is my grandson out in California, he's going to be the next big thing, blah blah blah). The only reason I listened to it is that it had a song on it called "Methadone Mama". Anyway, the group's name is "Slapshoe Fly" and the CD is called "Decades In The Grain". Its actually VERY good, if you like the whole John Prine/Steve Earl type sound (which I do).

I've noticed this go round, (and it happened last as well), that since I am away from my country music hating wife, that makes up most of my CD purchases.

Rihanna & the BEP are GREAT for cardio workouts! I have them, JT, Jay-Z,etc on the Ipod for when I run & do the Precor.
And shoot me now, but that new Miley Cyrus song "See you again" has a good Cardio tempo.

When I lift weights I like to listen to Alternative Rock.

Not much Country on my Ipod since I hear it all day.

"Photograph" by The Verve Pipe takes me back a few years. Good song.

I've been very happily surprised by the new stuff from Smashing Pumpkins. Both "That's The Way (My Love Is)" and "Tarantula" are strong, and in particular Tarantula is one of those songs that belongs on Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

Even since I heard "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles on Lightning 100 in Nashville, I've been hooked. It has since begun popping up on some CHR playlists.

The White Stripes continue to come out with more and more music that I like. The latest song I've heard, "Conquest", is great. My biggest music regret of 2007 was not finding some way to get to the "surprise concert" that they had in Nashville last year and announced only the day before it happened. "You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do What You're Told)" is in my heavy rotation.

Band of Horses is a group I first heard on Sirius' <i>Left of Center</i> channel (a real crapshoot but a place where I've heard some fantastic music well before it broke big), and while they haven't hit the big time yet, their songs "The Funeral" and "Is There A Ghost" are two I really enjoy.

I agree with Lester about "S.O.S." by Rhianna -- that's my favorite song by her, and it is an excellent song for cardio.

"Ayo Technology" (by 50 Cent w/ Justin Timberlake) is a really cool song. Definitely one that would go great in a strip club. If the holy rollers in Nashville hadn't ruined the strip club scene, or if Platinum Plus in Memphis still existed, I might know about it first-hand. Alas, I don't. At least there's always Tampa...

Finally, for the super obscure, this past week Howard Stern played an acoustic guitar cover of "Hey Ya" (originally by Outkast) by Mat Weddle of Obadiah Parker. It's worth hunting down -- it's probably the best hip hop-to-acoustic translation of a song I've heard.

I have never meant anyone in radio that doesn't have a very eclectic musical selection. I think that is what makes us better than everyone else.

That and the fact that we get a lot of free stuff.
