Radio listeners across the county may have heard those words for the last time Friday evening after voice of the station Hazel Damron announced it would be going black and off air.

I am really shocked that the school did not get a benefactor to keep the radio station on the air.

Oh WOW!!!!
That's just too bad. Been on like 40+ years.
I built the first studio's and Transmitter (10 Watt) at the High School Gym Building.... 1975-ish?
And the new Transmitter "On the Hill" too.....
My condolences to the memory of Vern Stanfield. He truly believed in "Live and Local"
And Keith Spears who "tapped" me to help with the start-up. It was FUN!!!!
Sorry I couldn't be there for it's last kick in the ass....
Can't tell me that a buyer or underwriter couldn't be found.

Re: [WFGH] Wayne schools' radio announces office shutdown
I remember Waveguide building all of that stuff.
He had to do it on a shoestring, as wfgh had no money.
Did a fine job, he did.
I made a suggestion to West Virginia Public Radio,
but they have problems of their own. A white knight
to hold the license and operate the station while
Wayne county gets on it's financial feet was my
suggestion.

This sounds like a job for Dr. Chuck Bailey and the crew at WMUL. If the Board of Gov. could quickly put a plan together, this would be a super easy way to keep the station running.

WFGH and it's two low power sisters have applied for a silent STA.
They explain that repairs are needed at the WFGH transmitter and,
what with the fund problems, It's going to take some time to put
things right. No estimate of length.
