Don't you mean WKKX?

He had it right, WKKW. If that was a joke, well, sailed right by me.

Also, some old lawyer had to go up about 9 times to accept awards for Jessica Ralston. The rest is a haze.
I should come here more often.

You know what? Looking down the list of threads, I see that it WAS a joke, and DID sail right by me.

These things happen, but seriously, congratulations to Jessica on a great evening.

AC Station:
Large: Magic - Fairmont
Medium: Star 95 - Princeton

Sorry for the incomplete list. I wasn't paying attention much to the TV ones and I missed a lot of the small market ones because I was busy being pissed we didn't win in medium mkt.

He hired me for my first paid radio gig. One of the best bosses I ever had.

He had(s) some eccentricities, though. Here are two examples that stand out in my mind.

1) He yelled, literally yelled, at the production director for not keeping the DCS cleaned of crap. While this seems like a common thing for a program director to do, Big John did it while wearing a rainbow colored unbrella hat.

2) He showed up at a remote once in a foul mood. I asked if something was up and he said someone washed is coffee cup.

what is it with people and coffee cups? My Dad is the same way. You can only "rinse" his coffee cup out. I guess it is so it doesn't taste like soap....I think?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

We were betting 5-bucks on who the first jealous competitor whose station wasn't good enough to win anything would whine first. I bet on you, and I thank you for today's lunch.

What entity/group/broadcaster's association judges these things?

Just because Dale Miller, Mike Fragale, and Mike Buxser (with Joe Parsons as past-president) are on the WVBA Board of Directors, it doesn't mean there's a fix.

I never hear where the entries go. That would snuff a lot of talk - wouldn't it? And as long as the WVBA board didn't have input as to the winners - it would be fair - wouldn't it?

Besides, without an Engineering/IT projects vs. budget category - why bother? Sorry, Dave, I'd win every time.

This year was judged by the Virginia Broadcasters. I know Kentucky has done it in the past.

Thanks for correcting me Dave! Again, working from memory.
