Mid Ohio Valley Radio of St. Marys has agreed to purchase WHNK, Parkersburg from Fellowship Baptist Church of Vienna. WHNK--originally WPAR, is Parkersburg's oldest station, on air in 1935. The sale includes FM translator stations on 98.1 at Parkersburg, and 107.9, St. Marys, which relay WHNK
Mid Ohio Valley is owned by Sam Yoho and Tom Taggart, who also own, through Seven Ranges Radio Co., WVVV Williamstown, WRRR St. Marys, and WXCR New Martinsville. The WHNK studios will be co-located with WVVV on Rosemar Road, Vienna. The format will change to oldies, and the station will resume commercial operations.
1450 FM 98.1 will be the home of the Parkersburg Big Reds for this school year, and will also carry news from the CBS radio network. WV Hall of Fame inductee Yoho started his broadcast career at WPAR. Jack Horton, also inducted in to the Hall of Fame, will be the program director of the station.

Great news! Glad to see a non-comm religious station actually GO BACK to a commercial format. Will it stream eventually?
