We're in the DC area for the week. I drove my wife to her meeting at Ft. Belvoir and then drove back to our hotel in Springfield VA. As I drove I hit scan on the AM dial. The scan stopped at 1480 AM and I heard Gil Scott-Heron singing a song called 'Washington DC'. This was followed by another Scott-Heron song, 'The Bottle'. There was one more Scott-Heron song after that before I got back to the hotel. I searched and found that 1480 AM is in Dumfries-Triangle DC and is known as WPWC. Google tells me it used to be a regional Mexican music station but it's now 'React Radio', a 'listener-supported, progressive-themed, free form radio network featuring independently produced music and public affairs content of the Nation's Capitol'.
The facebook page is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/React-Rad ... 02?sk=info and the website is: http://fullyoperationaldeathstar.blogsp ... urday.html
Just thought it was interesting...I know Scott-Heron just passed away in May of this year but I wasn't expecting to come across his music on AM radio. I played a lot of the 'Bridges' album back in my college radio days in the 70's.
