Alright. Now go deeper into it. When you were in those big markets how were you able to have success without that basic knowledge? Were you part of morning team as a sidekick? Did you have your own show that was being carried by other dayparts? Was it one of those things where you thought you could come to the "boondocks" and WOW all the "local yokels?"AARON SCOTT wrote:I just didnt realize the time it took for ratings to go up. I didnt know anything about coverage area or watts. I didnt realize how much being consistent means to the success of your station and show. I know now its better to shut up and listen
What do you mean by "being consistent?"
Again, I'm not asking this stuff to embarass you or anything of that nature. I'm trying to learn something here.
You shouldn't be embarassed anyway. Everybody goes through the learning process. It never ends. I keep learning new things all the time and it's been over twenty years. There was a time when I thought diary holders had their books for the entire three month ratings period. At one time I was convinced that playing the music I thought was cool was a sure fire ratings grabber. I could go on and on about shit I was wrong about.

I was doing a ton of stand up at the time and I was just sitting in as a side kick a couple days a week. I would walk in, they would throw me some headphones and just go at the mic. I had no idea of what all went into the whole radio show. When I say being consistent I mean having a staff that follows the same game plan.

Mark's hit the nail on the head about the Marquee commercials. Well done... Mark.
