WOWK weather cam

Post by genlock »

WOWK has made quite an improvement to the morning weather with the replacement of the
waterfront weather cam. Now in Hi-Def, in focus and color. No dirt or bugs on lens.
Digital microwave (I guess) has allowed wowk to do live, moving shots from the newscars
around Charleston. Not possible with the old analog stuff. Nice to see technical upgrades.

WSAZ also is driving around in the snow live.
They must have a new camera also.
They have not figured out how to turn the OSD (on screen display) off.
Nice battery charge, wsaz.

Are they using those cell-phone-based "Go Bags" or whatever they're called? The TVU thing? http://www.tvupack.com/ (TVU was cool when it was a consumer video streamer and player that let you see bootlegged TV from all over the world.)

They seem like an amazing idea right up until you start noticing the pixelation and artifacts AND your local stations start using them for virtually all live shots. It's awful video, once you can't stop yourself from noticing it, and should disqualify stations from claiming "HD!"
