2013 empty seat report

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

2013 empty seat report

Post by genlock »

Quite a few empty seats. Florida at Miami (FLA) game. Weather not a factor. Maybe 80% full.
About 95% capacity at Cincinnati at Illinois. WX ok
SC state at Clemson. Capacity crowd.
Oak St at UT-SA. not capacity but not far from it. Blowout.
WKU at Tenn, full.
MTSU at NC, lots of empty seats. wx ok.

At least football is doing better than NASCAR which I have not seen a single race with the stands filled to 60% capacity.

Largest crowd ever for CFB game at Notre Dame-Michigan. More than 115K.

Marshall announced 27,148 for first game. 7 PM start on Friday of Labor Day weekend. against old hated rival Miami (not the good one, the one in Ohio). Temp in the upper 70's & it looked like thunderstorms would arrive during the game but never did. Game was on CBS Sports Network. This is the first of a 4-game contract with the Redhawks (2 each place).

Second game - 26,138 + there were 8 high school bands to play with Marshall's band at halftime. No visible visiting fans that I saw from Gardner-Webb, a lower level FCS team from NC. 6:30 PM start with no TV other than All-Access purchase through Marshall and pirate sites showing All-Access feed. Low 80's, no threat of rain.

Marshall's stadium now has a capacity now of 38,227, up from 38, 019. Four new 52 seat skyboxes were added on top of the existing pressbox & skyboxes since last season. Billionaire Marshall alum Chris Cline (originally from Beckley) has one of the new skyboxes. He and his girlfriend Elin (ex-Mrs. Tiger Woods) Nordegren were in town since Thursday and attended the game.
